Hargeisa (Somaliland Globe) March 17 – The Chairman of Somaliland’s leading opposition party, KULMIYE, has called for a caretaker government to be appointed to lead the country when the President’s term of office terminates on the 6th of April, Somaliland Globe reports.
There president of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh whose second term in office ends in two years, is reportedly seeking a third term. Mr Guelleh, is currently serving his second six-year term in office, and is constitutionally prevented from running for a third term.

Presidential elections were due to be held in Somaliland on the 29th Martch 2009. However these have been postponed amid rumours and allegations from opposition parties that the government is not ready to contest in free elections.
