Somaliland has become a nation without conscience, no pride and self-respect. Our Qat addicted elders have sold the future of their children for Qat! They have no shame and no soul, and we keep them in their positions,

Somaliland is a hopeless case;

Great article. Very informative. Two main points stand out; one Riyale is responsible for the disturbance of peace, two the peace was there before he came to power and will remain after he is gone.

Those innocent people were not killed only by Rayaale's thugs; every red-bearded "suldaan", greedy politician and everyone who helped and still helps maintain this murderer in power is also an accessory to every murder he undertakes.

Give a gun to a killer! even worse give power to a genocidal war criminal. Rationality is missed in Somaliland.

@Amin Hassan

He has no permit to carry a firearm anywhere (Only police and Military are legally allowed to carry), yet he took a gun into the parliament. How can you justify that? What was he supposed to do with it? Do you understand that he is not an ordinary citizen, he is an MP!!! He had the audacity to carry a gun inside a government institution. He certainly is a danger to everyone around him. He should be removed immediately and should never hold a public office. It also needs to be investigation who else in the government knew this, or assisted him with it.

I also watched the video footage and did not see anyone punching him before or after, go see it yourself at http://www.somaliland.org/2009/09/09/halkan-ka-daawo-sida-xildhibaanka-udub-cabdiraxmaan-xoog-ula-soo-baxay-baastoolada/

Suggestion: Compromised solution to the problem
1. President Riyale resigns and transfers power to his vise president (VP) (but he will participate in the upcoming presidential election)
2. Opposition parties to withdraw all their conditions.
3. Parliament and Guurti to establish temporary law to form interim government for six months that will be headed by current VP. The ministers will be made up of professionals who are not affiliated with the political parties.
4. Parliament to issue amnesty for all the current government officials and ensure no criminals charges are leveled against them in future.
5. Form new NEC.
6. The interim government main function will be to ensure that the NEC: a- Review and complete voters registration in all province of S/Land. b- Hold the election on the agreed upon date.
7. Finally, the interim government transfers the power to winner.
May Allah protect our country.

I am sorry! Absolutely, it is waste of time. Impeach does not work.
Riyaale does not often accept any resolutions the parliament deliberates, also, there is a constitutional supreme court that annuls as such.
If it is necessary to remove Riyaale, then, an alternative method has to be identified other than what is happening in Hargeisa now.
